What is "Reach Hire"?
Updated: Apr 19
Hi there, and welcome to the Reach Hire blog!
My name is Madison Reynolds, and I'm your current Miss Granite City. I have the honor of competing for the title of Miss Minnesota this June, and I couldn't be more excited!
For those of you that may not know anything about Miss America, don't worry! I'm here to help. One of the amazing things about the Miss America Organization is that we have the opportunity to have a Social Impact Initiative. Mine is titled "Reach Hire", and it's about helping others find their passion, and turn it into a life of meaningful work.
I'll let you in on a secret. For a long time, the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" really intimidated me. As I was graduating high school and entering college, I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, but no concrete path on how to get there. I ended up choosing a broad area of study, to allow myself the flexibility to be qualified for many different career paths.
During college, I landed a coveted internship working for one of the largest events in not just the state of Minnesota, but the country. This internship led to a year of full-time employment. But, my passions changed, and so did my career path. I was led to the world of higher education, where I learned exactly what I wanted to do. I'm passionate about helping others find theirs. This may sound confusing. Let me explain...
My new career goal is to be an Academic Advisor and Career Counselor. As someone that didn't know what I wanted to be when I "grew up", I feel I can be an ally for those who are in the same position. I have been fortunate to work in the career services field as both a student, and now as a full-time employee, and I'm eager to share what I have learned with others.
Intrigued? I hope so! This blog will become a resource for you while you navigate the wild west of career preparation, job searches, resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, etc.
Stay tuned for more! I look forward to helping you "Reach Hire"!
